English Language Challenges

The truth is that I've never liked English. I think it's because it has always cost me a lot and things you like when you do them well. However, I believe that learning this language is very necessary and useful. Personally I have a poor English base at school and I have never done a course elsewhere, so it is not easy for me to learn English at university. Sometimes I think that the only way to learn will be living for a while in an English speaking country.
I think blogs are a good way to improve writing, and it's fun to read my classmates´s experiences. I do not think it's a better way to learn English, but it's better to do something than do nothing.

I think I have to improve my English a lot but it is very complicated for me. Maybe I should take a course but I do not have time. Another option may be to read more in English. I have always thought that reading is one of the best options to learn anything. I honestly think that I should to take more advantage of  English classes in college. But I have so many subjects and although I do not want to, I often neglect English . The university does not leave you enough time to learn a language.

Finally I must say that outside of English classes I do not use the language at all. I do not like music in English very much. And I always see the films with dubbing. (Yes, I know, many people hate me for that, but it's something that I can not control) Despite this, I know that in the future English will be fundamental in my career, both in school and at work. So I think I'll have to learn soon anyway.

Thank you very much for reading my blog.!

Changes to my study programme

Hello everyone! In the post number 9, I will write about the changes that I would like to do in my career.
I am in second year of my career. The curriculum of Chemistry and Pharmacy in University of Chile was changed the last year. I think that this change was good, but can still improve.
I think the subjects are fine, although I also think that some I will not use them in the future, but anyway I must know them because their use will depend on the area in which I work.
I would like to change the workload. There are semesters where there are many subjects and all are difficult!! This leaves me little free time. If I could I would make a variation. I would put, in one semester, some difficult subjects with others that are not so. Although I do not know if there are "not difficult" subjects :(
Also I would to have better infrastructure in the university and more technology, but I know that I am in a public university and those things are not possible in this moment.
With respect to the teaching methods I am satisfied. I really like the social approach offered by the university. If I could change something of this, It would be at the level of all education in Chile, mainly in evaluations.
I don`t know how to change it, but I would like that not to evaluate so many things from memory, and also that to evaluate other skills, such as art and music, since we all have skills for different things.
I still don`t see such a change possible in my country.

Summer holidays

Hello everyone! In this post, I tell you about my plans for these summer holidays.

How every year, I think that I travel to Coronel with my parents. Coronel is a city located in VIII region of Chile, to 40 minutes of Concepción. In this place live my grandmother, two uncles, one aunt and three cousins. The house of my grandmother is big and she has a big yard too. I enjoy very much to visit this place. I think that this is one of my favorite places in the world. (I don´t know many places but in Coronel, I am very happy). I like very much this city because is located near to the beach and I love the sea! Other things why I enjoy stay there is the family. In January the house is very full of people. Arrive family of Santiago and Argentina. I love the sensation of meet again with them.
Coronel is a small city, but you can find many activities to do. You can not miss the beach! In Coronel is Playa Blanca and Playa Maule. The last is a danger because the waves are very big, but if you like to walk on the sand feeling the sea breeze is a good activity. A bit more far, it´s found Playa Colcura (my favorite), there sometimes the sea look like swimming pool because the waves are low!
Other things that I do there, is visit museums and parks. The Jorge Alessandri´park is very beautiful!

This summer I would like to go to Talcahuano and visit the Huascar. I went when I was a child and I don´t remember very well this experience.

The most important for me this holidays is enjoying to my grandmother. I don´t know when she isn´t more with me and before that, I want to deliver all my love.

Pets

Hello everyone!

In this post I will write about a pet I would like to have.
Many years ago I don´t have a pet. When I was a child, I had many ducks, a rabbit, and two birds. But when I grew up I decided don´t have any pets because they need time that I couldn´t give them for the school, and now for the university.
In spite of that, I think that to have a pet is good, you can to find a friend in an animal.

I would like to have an elephant. I know that in this moment you are surprised or laughing, but is true. I know too that this it is not a domestic animal, but I love it. For that, I would like to have a big site in a suitable habitat for my elephant.
What I like most of this animal is his size and his trunk!! I think that if he is my friend, he could defend me!
Other reasons why I like this animal is that he is very smart and he have the adaptability in different habitat.

The name I would give them is Andy. Always I think that this is a good name for an elephant.

I want this animal for can to play football with he and can to take a shower together!!

I hope that you enjoy this post! Also I hope that you believe me that I want a elephant!!

Postgraduate studies

In this post I will talk about postgraduate courses that I would like to take in the future. The truth is that I do not think about that now. I think that after studying so many years I would like to stop for a time. Maybe take some recreational courses (although I hope to be able to do them soon) like learning salsa dancing, playing piano or learning French. These are things I have always liked.
Well, I think it is not so essential but it is important to do postgraduate courses in the area that I study because this way it is easier to find work. I think a magister in Pharmacology would be fine. Or maybe a specialization in Dopping and Drugs of Abuse or in Pharmacy Clinic. These are the areas that I like the most in my career. I would like to study mainly in Chile, but if I have the opportunity to study abroad I do not think I would doubt it. Spain or France would be good options, mainly for the language.
Finally I must mention that I would like a part-time course, because I must study and work at the same time. And if I'm abroad I also have to know places and cultures!

I do not usually think about the future, so far I'm focused on studying and finishing well my undergraduate studies. I'll see what happens later !!

My future job

Hello everyone! Today I will tell you about the work I would like to have in the future.
Many people when I say my career, they tell me "what boring to work in a pharmacy", but the truth is that the field of this career is very ample.
Some time ago I wanted to work in a laboratory, hidden and isolated, but lately I think I would like to have more contact with people, inform and help the population more directly. I think maybe I could work in a hospital, in the area of pediatrics because I love children. I would also like to travel to countries where people are not so informed about the use of medicines and so help them.
If this does not work, I think Dr Simi's pharmacy would not be bad.
With respect to the salary, I know that it is important, but with having enough to live is fine. Well, I will not lie, I would also like to have some pleasure trips sometimes.
Now I do not like to think much about my future, it scares me a little. And I feel that I must enjoy this stage first, although I also know that time passes very quickly and very soon I will be working.
I also do not think much about doing any magister or doctorate. I think maybe I would, but at the moment I think that after more than 5 years, I want to stop studying for a time hahaha.

Thematic post-nacional holidays

Hello everyone!

Today I will write about the activities that I did during the free days we had a few weeks ago.

On the little vacations we had, I rested, slept, visited my family and shared with friends.

These national holidays started at the university, on September 15, in the "quimifonda" where I ate, dance and I laughed a lot with my friends. (The photo I put at the end is from that day)

Another day I went with my mom to my cousin's house, it was very entertaining. I like it when we all get together! Play with my cousins guys and ate a lot, again jajaja (the summer operation should start now??  nah)

The truth is that I did not do other things out of the ordinary.
I met my best friend and talked a lot, as always. We had a lot of news to tell each other.

I also had to study, because after those free days, the worst moment of the semester began, the tests.

That was it, I think the best of that date is to share with the people that one wants and eat empanadas, of course.

Thank you very much for reading my post. You have a good day!!

Favourite book

Hello everyone!

In this post I will talk about my favourite book: "The distant hours", a novel of Kate Morton. She is my favorite author. I like very much all her books, but today I have decided to write about this book.

The distant hours tells the story of Edie Burchill and the Blythe sisters and as an old letter will make them discover secrets kept for many years.
Edie travels to an old english mansion where her mother lived as a child during World War II and where today live the twin sisters Blythe who take care of their little sister Juniper. Juniper has not been the same since boyfriend abandoned. In the castle Edie begins to discover the secrets of her mother and many other things that happened in the distant hours of the past.

I like this novel for the same reason why I like all the books by Kate Morton. She does not lose interest until the end of the story, playing with the present and the past. Writing about family secrets, old houses, love and people obsessed with memories. This entertains me a lot and fascinates me!!

The Best Holidays

Hello, everyone! In this post, I will tell you about my best holidays!

Every year, in January I travel with my mother (sometimes my father too) to Coronel in VIII region of Chile. In this place live my grandmother and a cousin, aunt, and uncle. Always my holidays are very nice with my family there because the family meet and I love that. But in this year, my holidays went a bit different, I went to Coronel but also one of my dreams come true. I knew Chiloé. I love Chile and for several years I wanted to travel to the south of Chile. Although I only went for 3 days, these were incredible days!
I went on the 23th January with my parents. It was a real adventure because my dad drove many kilometers. We crossed the Canal de Chacao at 11 at night in ferry-board! Then, we had to go through a street that has not light, I must admit that I was a bit afraid at this time.
We stayed in Ancud. This city is very beautiful and quiet. The people are very nice too. A one day, we went to Castro, there, we went by boat! The view of the island was very good!
Personally, I prefer Ancud because Castro is "more city" and there are many people.
One of the things that I liked more, it was wake up with the song of the birds and the waves of the sea.
In the return to Coronel, we went to Puerto Varas. We knew Vicente Perez Rosales Park. I fell in love with that place!!
The rest of January and February my holidays continued very well in Coronel with my family!!

I am very happy in summer... Especially this year!

Thanks for reading my post!

A Country I Would Like To Visit

Hello everyone!
In my first post of this semestre I will write about a country I would like to visit.

Actually, I would like to visit all countries in the world, one of my dreams is to visit Europe, principally France, Spain and Holland, but in this post I don´t tell you about one of these. I want to write about Colombia, specifically of Santa Cruz del Islote. For some years I have wanted to go Colombia from to know this islet, because I fell in love of this place when I watched it in a program of CHV, "Islas del mundo", for me this place is fantastic for the cheerfulness and humility of the people that live there.

An islet is a little island. Santa Cruz del Islote is
one of the few islet that is inhabited in the world. Is a poor places, the people that live there, don´t have drinking water or electric light permanently. This place is the island more densely populated in the Earth.

You will ask yourself why I like a little and poor island, the true is that I like the children and the most of people in the Santa Cruz del Islote are children. When I saw the reportage in the TV, it called my attention how the kids can be very happy with few things and how their families fight day to day for give them the best.

I would like to visit Santa Cruz del Islote in Colombia for help this people, but mainly I think in this places I could disconnect me of the technology and learn a lot really important things of the live with this children and their families.

Thanks for reading my post!!

My blogging experience

Hello everybody!!!

In my last post I will talk about my blogging experience.
The first class, when we had to create the blog, I did not know what to write as the name of my blog, I remember I took too much time thinking that, and also I have never use "blogger" before, That's why the name of my blog is very boring.

The truth is that I don't like so much english I know is important for our future jobs and that's why I have tried to learn as much as I can also because is useful in the daily life.

I think this experience has been quite entertaining and an opportunity to learn this language in a different way. Sometimes I did not know how to start a new post but in the end ideas flowed.

I think that having a blog has been a good way to practice our writing skills because we must do it every week and because I think that read blogs from our classmates helps us to increase our own habilities.
I hope in the future to continue with blogs. I think that you should give at least one totally free topic in the semestre
.
PS.: I missed a post about travel!! :(

Today I say goodbye to this good experience!
Thanks for reading my post

See you soon!!

From the invisible to the visible world and back...

In this post I will talk about the use of Nanotechnology in drugs.

Nanoscience is responsible of the study, understanding and control of phenomena, as well as the manipulation of nanometer-scale materials. Research in this area is interdisciplinary, requiring extensive knowledge that is not limited to fields such as Physics, Chemistry, Medicine or Materials Science. Nanotechnologies are all the tools and technologies used in the field of nanoscience.

The importance of pharmaceutical nanotechnology for drug therapy lies in the possibility of delivering both low molecular weight drugs as well as macromolecules such as peptides, proteins and genes, in a localized or targeted manner, to a certain tissue of interest.
Being closely related to the health of people is very important in my career (Chemistry and Pharmacy) because more and more studies are being done on the use of nanoparticles to carry different drugs and treat different diseases, many of which still there's no cure.

The first time I learned about the relationship between nanotechnology and pharmacology was the last year in the subject "El químico farmacéutico y su acción" and I found it very interesting. It's amazing how small particles can save lifes!

That is why I chose this topic, because of  It´s importance for humans and because it´s projections are incredible. In the future the nanoparticles could help in the cure of deadly diseases such as AIDS and cancer, achieving in the patient less impact both physically and emotionally, being also a therapy much more effective than the treatments of the present.

Among its advantages for the administration of drugs is mainly its small size which allows them to cross different epithelia and tumors and the use of biodegradable materials, which helps the environment.
Even though this sounds really incredible, the biggest disadvantage is the high cost that entails the use of this technology.

I hope to someday contribute something to the health of people using  Nanotechnology.

The most enjoyable subject ...

The subject that I very much enjoy this semester is Organic Chemistry Laboratory. The truth is that the laboratories scare me a little, but this lab It's been really entertaining and then, I have been learning more than the previous labs.
The Organic Chemistry Lab is a practical subject, although you must study the theory. In this way, you better understand what are you doing in the lab.
In this class we apply previously viewed content, like the basic techniques in a chemical laboratory, to perform reactions and synthesize several products or separating a mixture of organic compounds.
The main reason why I like this subject is that, in the practical activities, we recrystallize the products. This it's very enjoyed. You can see the compounds you are able to do. But this technique it`s the one difficult for me, I don`t like using the burner!!  But in the last classes, I have been learning the process. In the last class, my crystals of 4-nitroaniline remained very beautiful jaja
The interesting thing about this subject is that you can see that with "common" reagents can be synthesized much more complex compounds and these, in turn, can be transformed into others. It's fantastic that we could synthesize acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin) !!!
Another thing I like about Organic Chemistry Lab are the people present in the lab! The teachers are demanding but thanks to that one learn more, also if we have any doubts, the student assistants help us! They are very nice!
I must finally say that I think this subject is very important in the career and in the professional future.
The next Monday, I have the last class. I will miss this subject. :(

(a) Person/Expert you admire

A scientist who I admire is Mrs. Irma Pennacchiotti Monti. The truth is that I do not have much information about her, but she seemed to me a great woman and a great professional of the area when I met her last year in the visit to the Pharmacy Museum, where she is the director.

Mrs Irma is a Pharmaceutical Chemist of Universidad de Chile. She has a magister in Food Technology. After obtaining her title on September 11th ,1945 she exerted the teaching during 57 years. Also she worked in investigations about chemistry and biochemistry. She has published 3 books and more than 40 articles in national and international magazines, her contributions have given rise to the tables of chemical composition of several Chilean foods. Since 1951 she has won a lot of prizes in the area.

She has also excelled as President of "Sociedad Chilena de Nutrición, Bromatología y Toxicología".

I admire her because she was one of the first Pharmaceutical Chemist woman. And until today she is still linked to the profession with a lot of love and vocation for what she does. She is very intelligent and nice. And despite some natural difficulties of his age, teaches about the wonders of the pharmaceutical world with much patience and love.

My Favourite Book and Film

Hello everyone! In this post I will talk about my favourite book and film.

Resultado de imagen para A Cinderella StoryActually, I don´t  like very much watching movies. I prefer to read a book. Few times I can  put up with 2 hour in front of the screen! But there are some movies that have attracted my attention.
I don´t know if this film is my favourite, but I love it. This is "A Cinderella Story" (2004) directed by Mark Rosman. I like this movie because it is based on Cinderella, my favourite princess!! This is a romantic story. I have seen it many times, the first one was about 6 years ago. The truth is I'm not sure it's 6 years because time goes by so fast and I get confused.
Surely you have seen it, otherwise it would be recommended only if they like the typical romantic films of teenagers. And with a little fantasy included.

Resultado de imagen para The House at Riverton kate morton
In relation to books, my favourite author is Kate Morton, an australian novelist. I love all her books and all are my favourites.  For this post I have decided to talk about "The House at Riverton". What I like most about this book is that Kate plays with the story in different times. Also she write about a secret and you can´t stop to read until you find out. This makes it very interesting. I read it in 2013 in summer holidays.
I would totally recommend it because is a book for different likes! And it is a fantastic story!!

A Photograph You Like

The photographies are memories very important in my life. When I see a photography, many things pass by my mind. Actually is very difficult for me chose only one!!
In this opportunity, I talk about 3 especial photographies.

The first that I chose is a picture when I was a little girl. In this photo, I was with my cousins in the house of my grandmother in Coronel, eighth region, Chile. This is one of my favorite places in the world. This photo was taken by my mother in 2008. I like it very much because it reminds me of the entertaining summers we spent all together. Currently it is very difficult for all of us to go on vacation at the same time so we seldom agree.

The second photo that I chose  is the first time I went to the Estadio Nacional. I won the tickets in a contest, In the contest I had to relate a goal of the Chilean Team. I tried hard to win because I always wanted to go to the stadium. I was very happy because my first time at the stadium was at the opening of the Copa America !! He sang NDB, threw fireworks, presented an artistic show and then played the match between Chile and Ecuador. This photo shows my happiness in fulfilling a dream! The picture was taken by my dad on June 11, 2015! It was a fantastic day!

Finally the last photo I chose is of my "Gala de Cuarto Medio". I really like this photo because I'm finishing an important stage of my life with my parents. The photo was taken by the local photographer in December 2015 in "Casa Bosque", Cajón del Maipo.

I love taking pictures, so I have many more that are my favorites too. With my family, my high school friends and my friends from the university. (A greeting for them if they read this post hahaha)

Music in my life

I love music.
My favorite kind of music is romantic music. The kind of music that is "cut veins". Although this is my favorite, I enjoy listening to other types of music like salsa, tropical, bachata, pop and a bit of reggaeton.
Sometimes I also like to listen to music from another time with my parents. I know various songs of Leo Dan, Jose Luis Perales, etc.

In relation to musical instruments. I love the piano. I think the melody of this instrument is the most beautiful that exists. I want someday to learn to play it. (Alexis Sanchez plays the piano. That's one of the many reasons why I love him)
I remember that during my time in school I learned to play some melodies on flute. I do not remember much but it was a good experience.

I do not usually listen to music in English. I do not like it very much. If I have to mention some singer who sings in english I say Adele or John Legend (I love the song "All of me"!!).
In general my playlist has mostly Spanish-speaking singers like Noche de brujas, Camila Gallardo, Rio Roma, Aventura, Jordan, Consuelo Schuster, Denisse Rosenthal, Miriam Hernandez and my guilty pleasure, Maluma.
I also listen to French singers like Joyce Jonathan and Margaux Avril.
But my favorite singer of all life is Luis Fonsi. I love him. I love the lyrics of his songs and how he interprets them. My favorite songs are of him.

When I was little I liked the songs of "Cantando aprendo a hablar" and the songs of children's series. I loved them. When I grew up I liked "Amango", "Kudai", "La oreja de Van Gogh", "Porta" and others. Today I am still listening to Kudai. I don´t hear the others anymore, but sometimes I want to remember old times and I listen to them with pleasure.

The movie music that comes to mind is "My heart will go on" of Celin Dion in "Titanic". The movie is a classic and the song is very important and I'm sure everyone remembers it.
Another movie song I remember is "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston in "The Bodyguard."
I love both.

"When words fail. The music speaks"

My opinion

What is your opinion about smartphones?
In my opinion, the smartphones are an excellent piece of technology because you can do many necessaries activities with a single thing. But I think sometimes people use it in the incorrect form.

What is your opinion about women in the military?
I believe that men and women should have the same rights. If a woman wants to be a military, that's fine.

What is your opinion about the Chilean politicians?
I feel that they should earn less money to reduce the big gap that exists in the country.

What is your opinion about violence on television?
About the violence in tv, it depends of the time, they should only broadcast violence tv programs or movies in the nights and the kids should't watch it. But how you know, nowadays you can find different violent movies at every time.

What is your opinion about fortune telling?
My opinion on fortune telling is that it´s a fun job and really entertaining but again another job to make money on innocent people.

What is your opinion about soap operas on Chilean TV?
Soap operas are boring, they always have the same plot like, the rich guy falling for the poor girl and is just another thing to have as a background noise.

What is your opinion about legalizing marijuana?
I think it should be legalized for therapeutic purposes.

What is your opinion about climate change?
Climate change have been happening for years now and people is getting more conscious about it not only because they have seen it on tv or newspaper but also by their own eyes.

What is your opinion about cloning?
The biggest problem I see is that we are already many on the planet, human overpopulation is a serious problem for us and for other living beings. We do not need to increase the population even more. So human cloning, if ever carried out, should be limited to a few cases, when strictly necessary for medical reasons, or for scientific purposes.

What is your opinion about recycling?
I consider that we should have a subject in school teaching the kids about it.

What is your opinion about “barras bravas”?
I think football would be even more wonderful if "barras bravas" don´t do damage, only sing and support their teams.

Your favourite piece of technology

Hi everybody!

Today I will talk about my favourite piece of technology. I can`t mention only one, because the most part of the technology pieces that exist today are very useful to us.
I think that the telephone is a very good piece of technology. When I say that, I think in a old and classic telephone. In XIX century to communicate with people that were far, It must have been a wonderful experience!

My other favourite piece of technology is a video camera. My mother always says me: "I would have loved to have a video recording of my father or my grandparents" Fortunately I have many videos of my grandmother, my parents. All my family and my friends. I think that when they aren`t with me, at least, I`ll have a memory of their faces, voices and laughs. I grew up with this technological gadgets, but the video camera came to me when I was 8 years old. In 2006, my cousin recorded me dancing and "singing" a song of Belinda jaja. The video camera of my cousin had many memories of my holidays!!

Maybe you think that telephone and video camera are today in just one piece of technology: the smartphone. And yes, you have the reason. I like the old technology but I use the smartphone and I like it too. I use it to communicate with my friends and my family,
There is an aplication to talk with your friends, WhatsApp. You can talk with your friends by writing/Reading and also you can send “voice messages” and make calls. These last 2 options I prefer.
Also I use the classic telephone some days a week. All the videos that I have, are recorded with my mobile.

When I imagine my life without this piece of technology, I think that I could live without those things, but this would be difficult, mainly because I´m accustomed to have a daily contact with my dear ones.

Thanks for reading my post and remember: "A call is worthier than a thousand whatsapp"

Why did you study your career?

Hi!! In my second post I will tell you how I got to this career, Chemistry and Pharmacy.

When I was a child I wanted to be a pediatrician, but that was a game. I used to play with my dolls. I took care of them and cured its diseases.

During Primary School I was in love with the planets, stars, galaxies and all everything related with the wonders of the universe. For this reason I wanted to study astronomy. In the high school I knew that the astronomy is a career with a lot physics. Then I decided not study this career, because I never liked this subject. In spite of I continue in love of the universe! I enjoy see the sky every night.

In the last year of high school I had two careers in my mind: Medical Technology and Chemistry and Pharmacy. I was looking for a profession that let me apply the chemistry on the people´s health, but not directly. This made me decide in the last months of High School for Chemistry and Pharmacy.

Now I`m happy in the Fac. of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The first year was
not easy but I met good friends. With they the days in the university are very funny!! It`s a great experience.

I usually don´t think in the future, but I would like to work in a pharmaceutical industry or in a hospital in the pediatrics section because I love the children. One of my dreams is to travel and help all the kids in the world with my knowledge.

Thanks you for read my blog!!

Hello!! My name is Camila. I am 19 years old. I´m the only daughter of my parents. I live in La Florida with my mother and my father. I studied in Liceo Carmela Carvajal de Prat in Providencia. Actually I´m studying Chemistry and Farmacy in Universidad de Chile.

I like spending time with my family and my friends. Also I like to read, listen to music and watch football. My favorite football player is Alexis Sánchez. He is my platonic love!!
I don´t like practice sport, but I like to dance. I think that this is a great activity. Better than any sport!!
I love to travel and I love my country. One of my dreams is to know all Chile, from north to south. And then I want to visit other countries like Colombia, France, Spain and Holland.

I hope that you´ve enjoyed my first post!! :)
