Hello everybody!!!
In my last post I will talk about my blogging experience.
The first class, when we had to create the blog, I did not know what to write as the name of my blog, I remember I took too much time thinking that, and also I have never use "blogger" before, That's why the name of my blog is very boring.
The truth is that I don't like so much english I know is important for our future jobs and that's why I have tried to learn as much as I can also because is useful in the daily life.
I think this experience has been quite entertaining and an opportunity to learn this language in a different way. Sometimes I did not know how to start a new post but in the end ideas flowed.
I think that having a blog has been a good way to practice our writing skills because we must do it every week and because I think that read blogs from our classmates helps us to increase our own habilities.
I hope in the future to continue with blogs. I think that you should give at least one totally free topic in the semestre
.
PS.: I missed a post about travel!! :(
Today I say goodbye to this good experience!
Thanks for reading my post
See you soon!!

From the invisible to the visible world and back...
In this post I will talk about the use of Nanotechnology in drugs.
Nanoscience is responsible of the study, understanding and control of phenomena, as well as the manipulation of nanometer-scale materials. Research in this area is interdisciplinary, requiring extensive knowledge that is not limited to fields such as Physics, Chemistry, Medicine or Materials Science. Nanotechnologies are all the tools and technologies used in the field of nanoscience.
The importance of pharmaceutical nanotechnology for drug therapy lies in the possibility of delivering both low molecular weight drugs as well as macromolecules such as peptides, proteins and genes, in a localized or targeted manner, to a certain tissue of interest.
Being closely related to the health of people is very important in my career (Chemistry and Pharmacy) because more and more studies are being done on the use of nanoparticles to carry different drugs and treat different diseases, many of which still there's no cure.
The first time I learned about the relationship between nanotechnology and pharmacology was the last year in the subject "El químico farmacéutico y su acción" and I found it very interesting. It's amazing how small particles can save lifes!
That is why I chose this topic, because of It´s importance for humans and because it´s projections are incredible. In the future the nanoparticles could help in the cure of deadly diseases such as AIDS and cancer, achieving in the patient less impact both physically and emotionally, being also a therapy much more effective than the treatments of the present.
Among its advantages for the administration of drugs is mainly its small size which allows them to cross different epithelia and tumors and the use of biodegradable materials, which helps the environment.
Even though this sounds really incredible, the biggest disadvantage is the high cost that entails the use of this technology.
I hope to someday contribute something to the health of people using Nanotechnology.

The most enjoyable subject ...
The subject that I very much enjoy this semester is Organic Chemistry Laboratory. The truth is that the laboratories scare me a little, but this lab It's been really entertaining and then, I have been learning more than the previous labs. The Organic Chemistry Lab is a practical subject, although you must study the theory. In this way, you better understand what are you doing in the lab.
In this class we apply previously viewed content, like the basic techniques in a chemical laboratory, to perform reactions and synthesize several products or separating a mixture of organic compounds.
The main reason why I like this subject is that, in the practical activities, we recrystallize the products. This it's very enjoyed. You can see the compounds you are able to do. But this technique it`s the one difficult for me, I don`t like using the burner!! But in the last classes, I have been learning the process. In the last class, my crystals of 4-nitroaniline remained very beautiful jaja
The interesting thing about this subject is that you can see that with "common" reagents can be synthesized much more complex compounds and these, in turn, can be transformed into others. It's fantastic that we could synthesize acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin) !!!
Another thing I like about Organic Chemistry Lab are the people present in the lab! The teachers are demanding but thanks to that one learn more, also if we have any doubts, the student assistants help us! They are very nice!
I must finally say that I think this subject is very important in the career and in the professional future.
The next Monday, I have the last class. I will miss this subject. :(

(a) Person/Expert you admire
A scientist who I admire is Mrs. Irma Pennacchiotti Monti. The truth is that I do not have much information about her, but she seemed to me a great woman and a great professional of the area when I met her last year in the visit to the Pharmacy Museum, where she is the director.
Mrs Irma is a Pharmaceutical Chemist of Universidad de Chile. She has a magister in Food Technology. After obtaining her title on September 11th ,1945 she exerted the teaching during 57 years. Also she worked in investigations about chemistry and biochemistry. She has published 3 books and more than 40 articles in national and international magazines, her contributions have given rise to the tables of chemical composition of several Chilean foods. Since 1951 she has won a lot of prizes in the area.
She has also excelled as President of "Sociedad Chilena de Nutrición, Bromatología y Toxicología".
I admire her because she was one of the first Pharmaceutical Chemist woman. And until today she is still linked to the profession with a lot of love and vocation for what she does. She is very intelligent and nice. And despite some natural difficulties of his age, teaches about the wonders of the pharmaceutical world with much patience and love.
